Privacy

What we store

• Your email address, when you choose to save a sailing area.
• The sailing locations you save, including the coordinates used for the forecast.
• The weather preferences you selected for those areas.
• A broad user category, such as owner, buyer, browser or charterer, if you tell us.
• Referral or source information showing how you reached the tool.
• Basic product usage events, such as running a forecast or saving an area.

Why we use it

• To provide the saved Sailing Window functionality.
• To improve UYC tools.
• To understand how people discover and use the service.
• To send marketing only where you have separately chosen to receive it.

Sharing

We use service providers to host the site and store this data, and we may share information where we are legally required to. UYC will not provide your contact details to commercial partners for their own direct marketing without an appropriate legal basis or your permission.

Sailing Window alerts

If you explicitly turn on Sailing Window alerts, we store the saved area and preferences needed to run that check and use your email address to send you the forecast-match notifications you asked for. You can turn these alerts off at any time using the link in every alert email. These functional alerts are separate from marketing.

Marketplace boat enquiries

When you send an enquiry about a boat, UYC records your name, email, any phone number and budget you give us, your message and the listing it relates to. Some boats shown in the Marketplace are external listings supplied by a third-party inventory provider. If you give the separate permission shown on the enquiry form, we pass your details and message to the relevant seller, broker or listing provider so they can respond to you. We do not pass anything on without that permission, and it is separate from marketing consent.

Marketing

Saving a sailing area or enabling alerts does not sign you up for marketing. Marketing consent is a separate, optional choice and you can ask us to stop at any time.
